IT contractors could help to educate staff
Businesses must ensure their staff are educated in computer safety in order to protect themselves from virus attacks, it has been stated.
IT contractors could be called upon to give this training to ensure companies are safe from infections.
Luis Corrons, technical director for cloud-based security solutions provider Panda Security, stated that education was imperative for internet users.
"Most malware is installed in security walls with vulnerabilities so it's really, really important to apply patches in all your computers," he commented.
Mr Corrons was speaking after his company helped to shut down the Mariposa botnet, which infected 13 million computers in 190 countries around the world.
According to software company Symantec's State of Enterprise Security 2010 report, three-quarters of businesses have been the victim of cyber assaults within the last year.
The survey found that 84 per cent of businesses are planning to manage IT risks better, with IT contractors potentially benefiting from the increased need for security in companies' systems.
